ASG RD 2018 requires Network Level Authentication
Hello, my ASG RD 2018 cannot connect some Windows Server 2012 R2, while direct RDP (mstsc) works.

Command-line - Enviroment name
Hi,
We are publishing ASG as RemoteApp, for most of our internal users, and have been playing around with the command-line parameter.
The following works perfectly:
asgrd.exe "/dcsImage may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
ata Source=sqlserver.domain.local;Initial Catalog=ASG_RD_DB;Integrated Security=True"
When users are opening that RemoteApp, the Envoriment is called "Portable", and i cant seem to find the correct parameter, to change that to our company name.
Is there any solution, to fix the Enviroment name?

Connect to multiple SQL Environments
Is there a way to connect to multiple environments/SQL so I can attach to some of our bigger installments that have their own ASG-RD for internal use? When I try to add a second environment on my installtion to a remote client via VPN to a SQL server on a different domain, I had to choose a local account on the sql server (vs integrated) and test connection successfully - but it errors when adding the new environment.
Ideally in the end, I am looking for an easy way to connect to several client ASG-RD setups vs. having to import and maintain on my PC. Is this possible?

Peculiar behaviour with connection test and login
Hi,
I've run across a behaviour with logins to our SQL database, that i find quite peculiar and i was wondering if you could elaborate on it?
Our suspicion is that MFA might be the culprit to the scenario below
A bit of context:
When we attempt to configure a new environment and we try to login to an existing database, we cannot use our domain credentials for the initial database connection test as it fails like seen in these screenshots:

We can however use a SQL SA account, which functions just fine and allows us to finish the configuration of the new environment.

Upon selecting 'Connect' for the new environment, we can then login using the domain credentials that we tried to use earlier.

The primary concern is that each user that needs to access the DB in the future will need to use the SQL SA for the initial setup, which we find highly disturbing and not very secure.
Could you please assist or perhaps explain the intended behaviour?
Best regards,
Mark

Our suspicion is that MFA might be the culprit to the scenario below
A bit of context:
- We're using ASG2018P5 - As requested in this forum post.
- Our domain credentials are MFA enabled, while the SQL SA is not.
- Our ASG DB is hosted in Azure and we use a VPN to create a connection between the ASG client (workstations) and the SQL DB.
- The VPN prompts for domain credentials and MFA authentication, then stores the MFA token for a little while.

Random Crashing
Hi Support
we are running asg 2018 update 4 in a team environment (approx 15 users) connecting back to a single SQL Instance on a dedicated SQL server also running the latest version of ASG, however are finding that the application crashes multiple times per day for no apparent reason.
do you have any idea why this might be and how we may resolve the issue. it has only started happening in the last month or so prior the that the system has been rock solid with no issues.

1 SQL DB Multiple Users

we are now moving to dedicated logins for each user, is there a way each user can access the same database / list of servers but have there own separate set of credentials saved in ASG and not be able to see any other credentials which have been saved?

RDP Protocal (ASG 2012, 2016, 2018) Compatiblity with Citrix Receiver 4.9
Scenario: ASG Vision APP (2012 - 2018) establish RDP to Windows 10 (17134).
Launch Citrix Based Ica session (Citrix Receiver 4.9 CU1), no problem....
Disconnect / Reconnect to same PC via ASG RDP and presented by Receiver Encryption Error with the now new attempt to launch citrix app.
Repeat reconnections at this point typically won't work however they have mysteriously "fixed" themselves. (a reboot does work or network refresh)...
The kicker: I am able to reconnect from MSTSC RDP connection and run the same ica session post issue, and everything works. Can reconnect w/o issues and launch .ica's to heart content, but if I switch back to ASG RDP upon reconnection -> encryption error.
Using MSTSC as external application for current workaround but wondering if anyone can confirm and or suggest other than:
CTX133536 which include Clean install of receiver, Reg keys for VdLoadUnLoadTimeOut's, / LegacyLocalUserNameAndPassword
IPV6 disabled
TS Gateway not applicable looking at from ASG POV, tried with and without compression, Full / thin and small client protocol types
Will be loading future versions of receiver as prior versions do not exhibit this behavior, Figured time to post and see if alone in the dark.
Thanks

Export does not include everything
I have the latest version and patch 2018 P5. When I export my current environment like I always have, it doesn't export a lot of the settings. In fact, my export file from version 2017 was about 2,000 Kb, but when I export it in version 2018 I only get 510 Kb. Then when I delete the environment and import the latest version 2018, a lot of the settings are not properly imported, I have to go back to my version 2017 export.

Import RDP files
There does not seem to be a way to import RDP files. But it would be a nice feature ...
Currently I am struggling to create RDP connections in ASG-RD similar to existing RDP files that connect to remote machines through a RDP gateway.
While my separate RDP files work fine, the connections which I create in ASG-RD with the same values do not work. I only get "protocol error"s.
Sure I have overlooked something. But it would save me the work if I were able to simply import a RDP file and it would then work ...

ASG RD Startup failure
Hi Support,
We recently installed the new version of visionapp / asg remote desktop 2018.
Then I made a portable version (asg 2018 patch 5 with the option enabled for the connections for the database included) and placed that on a network share.
When I try to start it on a terminal server / remote desktop server (windows 2008 r2) session as a “standard” user I get the message “connection could not be established”
When I logged in as a user with administrative right and then start the program It works, when I use then runas (from that administrative session) the program with the standard user credentials I get the same error.
For database/visionapp access I can use both (my standard and my administrative account) to start the program the only thing that’s not working is just that I start a rdp session with a standard account and can’t start asg, I need that administrative account to start asg correctly.
I also tried the asgrdelevated.exe file but I experience the same problem.
What log file can I check / or settings to get this working?

Message at startup "Invalid encryption of credentials"
Hello,
I need some help and have a specific question, which is:
Where in the ASG-RemoteDesktop SQL database are the private credentials stored ?
The whole story ...
All ASG-RemoteDesktop 2018 users are receiving a message or warning at startup of the application. The message says the following:
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.![[Image: ASG_Invalid_encryption_of_credentials.jpg]]()
Transcription of the attached image:
---
Invalid encryption of credentials
There are on or more credentials with invalid password encryption.
The credentials will be marked in the navigation window. You have to
reset the passwords to use it again.
---
All users working on the same database receive this message at startup. We find this it odd because it's related to private credentials not public credentials. My colleagues and I managed to identify credentials because of descriptions of the credentials found in the error log of ASG Remote Desktop 2018. See printscreen below of the error log and the warning message listing the credential ID and the credential description;
Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.![[Image: ASG_Remote_Desktop2018_Error_log.png]]()
A couple of users had to remove and create their credentials again. This approach seems to work. Because when we remove corrupt credentials, the list of credentials mentioned in the error log gets shorter. We are now left with credentials that we can not link to a specific ASG-RemoteDesktop user. We tried to look into the SQL database searching for the credential ID and the description of the credential. But we did not manage to find them. So we can't find them in the database and the description is too generic to identify an ASG-RemoteDesktop user.
The version of ASG-RemoteDesktop 2018 we are using is v11.0.5865.0.
The database is stored on a SQL server 2012.
The question I want to ask is:
- Where in the ASG-RemoteDesktop SQL database are the credentials stored ?
We hope to link it to the owner of the private credential and contact him or her with the request to remove those corrupt accounts.
Thank you in advance.
Regards, Patrick

Navigation Search - Shortcut
Hallo
