Missing Personal Values Tab

Hello,

I am using ASG RemoteDesktop version 9.0.5385.0 on a newly installed laptop, running Windows 10 Enterprise Anniversary update.

I migrated my environment from my old laptop to this one using an RDE file.

I no longer have a "Personal Values" tab, and am not able to set personal values for my connections.

I do have Default and Inherited tabs, but Inherited is grayed out on all connections.

I need to be able to change some connections' settings individually.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that this issue occurs even in new environment, freshly created.

Created a new environment, added a folder, added a single connection.  Still no Personal values.

RDP AutoSize not working

Hello,
We have version ASG Remote Desktop 2016 (9.0.5385.0)
and the AutoSize does not seem to be working after I reinstalled on Windows 10 (1607).

My monitors are at 1920x1080 but the RDP sessions do not scale correctly.

RDP sessions in mstsc.exe work\scale correctly.

I have to disable auto size and manually put in a resolution to work for now.

Is there a work around or fix for this ?
I haven't come across anything yet in the forums.

ASG-2016 connect to VisionApp 2010 DB

Hi Im trying to connect to an existing mssql 2010 VisionApp dB with the ASG-RDP 2016 client.

After completing the enviroment wizard I click use integrated security with login type windows account and I get an error "connection could not be established"

Coincidently when I run the visionapp 2010 software I can connect fine.

Any ideas how I get this to progress.

Not able to save credentials to a folder/connection

Hello

I am trying to do a proof of concept with a Trial license but don't seem to be able to save a credential against a folder or connection entry. I cannot see the Credentials->General tree pane, but if I go to the Multiedit page I can. If i select a credential in the multiedit pane and tick the checkbox the credentials don't save either. Is there a limitation on the trial account or am I doing something wrong?

I appear to be an administrator. Please assist.

in the ASG 2016 Help  "Prevent Update Check" Show the old key

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\ASG\RemoteDesktop2015\UpgradeCheck".

Is that a right in the new Version ASG 2016  9.0.5385?

ASG crashes after logging off 2008 R2 Server

Hello

we are on ASG 2016 P3 now, and I get repots from my colleagues that ASG crashes from time to time. Personally, I encountered this very rarely, but I mostly connect to 2012 R2 machines by RDP. Talking to my colleagues showed that they use more frequently connections to Server 2008 R2 machines.
Regarding to their input the crash occurred after logging off from one of theses machines. After the crash, ASG remains unusable.

Since we use ASG RD on Citrix Xenapp 7.8, the users have to logoff their sessions and start again.
Review of eventlogs showed nothing of interest.

Someone can confirm this behavior or got an idea what may be the underlying cause?

Any way to export/import favorites or make them public?

I have several requests to import/export favorites or make them public from my user community.  Some of the teams have complex favorites hierarchies due to the number of connections we have that are not relevant to those teams.

These teams would like to create a favorites hierarchy their team can use or be able to export favorites from one user and import to others on the team.

Reading the 2015 DB

Hi,
We've recently upgraded ASG from 2012 to 2015 using database. In 2012 the tables were pretty clear structured so we used the data within ASG for querying and running scripts. 

But after upgrading to 2015 that database is no longer easy to read and get information out of. Is there any way to get connection name information from the database and changing some data on all the servers with scripts? for example changing the tab color for all servers?

DB query Target usage

Hi,
Due to historical and practical reasons we have alot of connections multiple times.
And possible quite some connections that are no loger used.

is there a query to find out what is the number of "made connections" to a target and the last time that connection was used ?

This will probably be limited to the settings in the log option, but still this would be quite handy.

We are running on SQL server, so a Tsql would be much more interesting than through a menu option.

vCenter Integration, Linked-Mode

Hello,
we are using ASG-RD 2016 successfully in our enterprise to manage RDP and SSH connections.
Now I want to integrate our vCenter 6.0 inventory with it. The initial integration works fine, I can connect to a vCenter and sync the Vm\folder view and do power on\off operations on my virtual machines.
However, there are some usability issues.
  1. We run more than one vCenter in Linked Mode. Is it possible to leverage Linked Mode, so that the inventory of multiple vCenters is synced? When I sync one vCenter and after that a second one, all previous connections are overwritten. I've tried exporting all connections from the 1st vCenter, syncing the 2nd vCenter and importing the connections from the file. All connections are shown, however it is not possible to use the imported (non-synced) connections. Is it maybe possible to create more than 1 vcenter connection (so there would be more than one connection tree), maybe by the use of a specific connection parameter?
  2. Connecting to the VM Console - do I just have to install the vSphere Client on the same system? Or does it have to be configured as an external application?
  3. I assume there's an option to create a new connection to a remote server and to administer is as a VMware virtual machine (so that you don't have to sync ALL vSphere objects)? So that, after I have created a new connection, I could use VMware options like power\on off and the console. However when creating a new connection I get a greyed out text field (see attached screenshot).
    The VMware role is active.

Automatic export function

Hi,

I've got a instance of VisionApp 2015 with around 500 connections, give or take.
We add and remove nodes to this environment once in a while, and I'm looking for a function to schedule an export of current connections, to get a better overview of changes.

I know that this export can be done manually in Environment > Export.
My question is if there's a way to achieve the same result as the above function, but on an automatic schedule, e.g. once a week.

Is there a function in the application that can manage this? Or can it be solved by using a flag on the .exe (simplified example: ASGRD.exe /exportcsv).
I would prefer to not have to query the database as my DBA skills aren't up to par.

Error - BaseItemGet

Hi
We have a problem with one user (me) on our ASG RD 2015 8.9.5034.1
This installetion is running for more then a year and is ussed by more then 20 useres. Until yesterday i had no problem to use id.
When i start ASG RD i get following error message:
An error occured on executing an sql statment
BaseLineGet

Connect with IP by deafult, instead of name?

Hello,
is there a way for RD 2016 to primarily use the IP while establishing a connection?
I have synchronised a large number of connections from a vcenter, the new connections are named after the VMs, not after the FQDNs of the systems. Since this is a multi-domain environment, when trying to open a RDP\SSH session the connection does not work. It also does not switch to an IP connection.
My questions are:
- Is it possible to configure RD so that it will fail over to an IP connection if connecting to the name fails?
- Would it be possible for future versions of RD to query the vCenter for the DNS name of a virtual machine too? And fille the Destination field with the queried value.

RD 2016 - VMware vCenter 6.5 integration, remote console

Hi,
since the vCenter 6.5 is coming very soon and the vSphere Client 6.5 will no longer be able to manage the environment, how do you guys plan on supporting the remote console function in ASG-RD? Since this functionality relies on the vSphere Client, are planning an alternative? For example with the VMRC?

Move ASG-RemoteDesktop 2015 Environment into a new Domain

Hello,

We will move our ASG-RemoteDesktop 2015 Environment into a new Domain. Each user gets a new Domain User which should have his old Private Credentials. those Credentilas are linked within some Conntections.

Is ist Possible to move the Database to a new SQL Sever with a SQL Backup and then Restore ist ?

How can we Change the User logon Credentials ?

I made a Test just Restored ist all Connections are available. Bud the private Credentials are missing ..

I have seen that the users in the Table dbo.Users  have the Attribute Name,Domain,Sid.. Is it possible to Change those entries ?

Howto req-extapp to open a new connected adhoc tab

Ok, bear with me.

We are implementing CyberArk.  To integrate this into ASG-RD, we create a connection which as a connection field of

Cyberarkgateway.domain.loc

Then on the RDP connection attributes, on the program line, we put:

psm /u proxyaccount1@domain.loc /a  servername /c PSM-RDP

This launches a passthrough RDP session to "servername", using proxyaccount1 which is retrieved from the Cyberark store if the user authenticating has privs to it.

The problem with this is that I need to create an actual connection object, with a few steps/hand edit, for each server.  When you're used to using ad-hoc connections by just typing in the server name, this is a pain but it's also a pain to create new connections - minus Cyber-Ark, you say new connection and put a name in and you're done,  no copying strings to the program line and editing.

What I would LIKE to do is two-fold:

1. Feature request - I wish that the Programs/"executable path" field would support variables the way that the extapp General fields do.  This would let me turn the above into:
psm /u proxyaccount1@domain.loc /a  %NAME% /c PSM-RDP

Then you could just copy connection objects, rename them, and they would pass in the correct info dynamically.  Much simpler for creating objects.

1a.  Even better, if you had a special token in your connection object that flagged to ASG-RD that it needed to query for a value,  you could make a connection object that would ask you for this value.  psm /u proxyaccount1@domain.loc /a  &PROMPT1& /c PSM-RDP

2.  Perhaps easier to implement, as the above will involve some complexity, is there a way of calling a command that will initiate a new connection/create a new connection tab within the existing ASG-RD instance, via an extapp?  If there is, it would let us use a static object and call an ext app against it), then initiated a new connection tab along with the dynamic program line.  This doesn't help the prompting for a name for an ad-hoc.

Does anyone know if there's already a way to re-call ASG-RD to create a new connection tab dynamically like this?

We have one remaining sharp edge to this, in that the "proxyaccount1" needs to be uniquely in use on the target server.  A variable that was random in a range would reduce these collisions but that's asking for an unreasonable feature unless people can think of more use-cases.
