Windows Security Prompt

My computer downloaded the newest update for Windows 10 (1607) and now ASG no longer uses my credentials that I have set up for each folder/connection within ASG?

Has anyone else seen this? Can it be fixed? That is one of the best features of ASG :-(

2012 Upgrade to 2015 DB Issue

Hi Gurus,

            I have encountered an upgrade issue from 2012 (SQL Express backend) Vision App to 2015 (SQL Backend).  I was wondering if anyone can point me a correct upgrade path or how-to.

            Issue:

                     New 2015 ASG-RD application can't connect to the "old" SQL DB for testing or migration.

             Environment:

                      All of our servers are running 2012 R2 AWS Instance.  SQL Express is behind AWS RDS instance.

ASG-Rempte Desktop 2015 Crashing

Hi,

I tried exporting my server list/credentials so I have different configurations.  Now when I try and load the product I'm getting an error message that ASG-Remote Desktop 2015 has stopped working.  I've tried un-installing the software and running cccleaner against my client but without any success.

My machine is running Windows 10 Enterprise Build 10586.545 and I've tried installing Patch 10 and Patch 11.

Any ideas what I can do to resolve the problem as I don't fancy rebuilding my machine.

SSH Switch Connection

We are in the process of testing the 2016 Remote-Desktop product.  My question is, how do you configure the app, or is it possible, to manage Cisco switch or VMware hosts from a terminal session?  I did a brief search on SSH and Cisco but it did not produce anything of value.

Profile not availablefor all users - only one self

Hi

I'm in the process of migrating all of our ASG-2012 installations to ASG2016-Patch3.
On one of our terminal servers the new profile, that I create, does not show up for all users, only my self. The profile points to a database.

This is currently the only server/installation where this issue occurs and I need some help to identify the cause for this.

Is there some verbose logging that I can enable, to see why the profile is not being created at the correct location.

I'm logged in with an administrative account and I start ASG-2016 in non-elevated mode.

This is what happens when I create a new profile and "Show environment profile for all users" is ticked:

Folder created: C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\ASG-RemoteDesktop\9.0\
Files created: C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\ASG-RemoteDesktop\9.0\profile.xml

However I would expect a similar folder to be created at "C:\ProgramData\" as it does on my other servers.

If I rightclick->run as administrator on the non-elevated version of ASG, then the folder at C:\ProgramData\ is created. But when I run the non-elevated ASG as non-admin, then it says that no profile has been created.

The OS is Windows 2008 R2 as is my other servers, that are working fine, as well.

How can I troubleshoot this? Am I missing a prerequisite that I'm not aware of? UAC is the same on all servers.

ASG2016 HTTPs Verbindungen

Hallo,

ich habe eine Frage. Unter Connections habe ich mir einige Devices angelegt. Diese möchte per Default-Protokoll per SSH ansprechen. Nun habe ich aber auch die Möglichkeit die Geräte via HTTPs anzusprechen. Nun habe ich aber das Problem das die Geräte nur auf HTTPS reagieren und kein HTTP Weiterleitung durchführen.

Ist es möglich in ASG2016 festzulegen, dass er per Default immer HTTPs versuchen soll anstatt von HTTP. Ich möchte eigentlich vermeiden, dass ich in sämtlichen Devices / Connections die URL nachpflegen muss. Ich hoffe es ohne Umstand zu erledigen.

Split screen layout and dragging of connection between each half stopped working?

Hello there, I'm used to set my layout to split screen to see two remote session on one screen and it's been working fine until today on our database shared  VRD.

I can move the find items or overview tab just fine between each half of the layout, but any rdp session gets a denied move icon and i can't get it back. It seems to be linked somehow to a permission because creating a new database file locally allows me to do this just fine...
I've added two screen shot of what is 'ok' and what is 'denied'

Any idea what triggered this denied moving of rdp session ?

quick connect and spaces

Hi all - I'm curious about what seems like a strange behavior of the ASG Quick Connect function which has bothered me for a long time, but I've finally gotten around to asking about today.  I assume it must be intentional, because this has been a feature since Visionapp 2010 at least.

Simply put -whenever I want to copy a servername from some document, spreadsheet or diagram and paste it into the quick connect box, it rarely works.  This is because the default Windows behavior when you double-click to select is to pad the "word" with a space at the end. 

Unfortunately, ASG's behavior is to disallow pasting of space-padded hostnames or IPs into the quick connect window.  The result of this is that I always have to "manually" select the hostname or IP (rather than doubleclick), or paste the name into some intermediate location and re-select without the space.

Fairly trivial on a grand scale, I know, but it's a continuing irritation because I can't break myself of the habit of using the double-click select.  I know I'm not the only one as my coworkers have complained about the same. 

Is it possible to request that the Quick Connect box allow spaces in the future?  Or at least some good reason why spaces can't be allowed, to help put my mind at ease? Smile

SSH - KEY-Groups

Hallo,

seit dem Update unserer Ubuntu-Installationen auf 16.04 LTS können wir nicht mehr mit ASG 2016 Patch3 auf die Konsole zugreifen. Folgende Fehlermeldung erscheint:

Warnung
Verbindung fehlgeschlagen: Server does not suport diffie-hellmann-group1-sha1 for keyexchange

Das ist insoweit richtig, dass diese Verschlüsselung unsicher ist und aus Ubuntu raus ist.

Wenn ich aus ASG eine Putty session aufbau geht das aber, da scheint dann die richtige Gruppe genommen zu werden.

Was kann ich einstellen, damit es wieder funktioniert, oder hilft hier nur eine ASG-Update

Selection of "last tab" when you log off

If you disconnect a tab using the X on the tab, the active tab is swithed to the one that was active before the one just closed.

If you log off a connection the active tab is instead changed to the first tab (number 1), which can be pretty frustrating when you have many tabs - especially if you have more tabs open than can be displayed (so you have the navigation arrows active) as it causes a lot of unneccessary scrolling and navigation between the tabs.

Suggestion:
- Change the behaviour when logging off to the same as when you disconnect
- Implement an option that allow you to select whether when disconnecting/logging off it should go to the tab that was last active (like current disocnnect functionality) - OR - whether it should select the tab to the left of the session being disconnected/logged of (fx disconnect/logoff tab 6 and tab 5 is selected).

Connection history - Connect

If I select a connection in the Connection History that was made earlier using Quick Connect and select Connect I get the error:

"Object do not exists
The selectd object does not exist anymore in the data source. Action can't be executed."

("selectd" is missing an e)

It works on non-Quick Connect connections.

Also, it would be nice if doubleclicking the connection in the connection history would trigger the connect.

backup and restore via PowerShell

hallo,

ich habe ein PowerShell Skript geschrieben, dass die Visio-App Datenbank als .bkk Datei exportiert(full-backup) und auf einem anderen Server wieder importiert.
Die Verbindungen etc. werden übernommen, nur die angelegten Login-Benutzer inklusive Passwort für die Server (Anmeldeeinstellungen) werden nicht übertragen. Ich vermute, dass die Daten verschlüsselt sind und der SQL Server diese daher nicht exportieren kann. Sie sind aber für einen automatischen Login unverzichtbar.

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die Zugangsdaten automatisiert zu exportieren ?

ASG-RD 2016 9.0-5312.1

Since upgrading to ASGRD 2016 Patch3 I have had a problem with Quick Connect.
I often need to connect with different credentials.
When I click in the Credentials box and scoll down, I find the credential I need to use. At this point Quick Connect hangs and will then disappear. When I open Quick connect again, the credential I selected is usually populated.

With prior versions, I could select the credential and click the Connect button in one operation, now besides the momentary freeze and the dialog closing, I have to open Quick Connect a second time.

Any Ideas?

Copy/clone security group

Hi

I'd like to request a features that gives me the option to copy/clone a security group (Tools -> Security Groups) including its selected permissions.
I create a lot of identical security groups that have the same permissions, because I use the different security groups to differentiate what is visible for each group in the navigation list.

ASGRD 2016 & Startup on W10

Hello,
My problem is that the program startup take a lot of time.

After the double click on icon the program takes 45 seconds to show the login form. After it takes 1 or 2 seconds to load data from the DB.

I have tried with fresh installation but the issue remains.

I have ASG-RD 2016 9.0-5312.1 and WIndows 10 1607 (OS Build 14393.105).

The startup of the program is normal on the pc with Windows 7

Any suggestions?

Suggestion: Add DNS suffic as inheritable property on folder

It would be of great benefit if you add DNS suffix as an inheritable property on folders.
That way you don't have to add it to all connections.

I am having issues with ASG-RemoteDesktop 2015 version 8.0.4958.0 and have found that https connections now do not work.  The option to continue to the website has disappeared, please see attached screenshot.
 
I was able to see a “continue to this website (not recommended)” option before, but this now does not show.
 
When I open the url in I.E 11 I see the option to continue.

External App ignores Connect As credentials

Version 9.0.5312.1

I have a Connection that calls PSExec as an External App to start an app as another user.  Sometimes I want to override the default, inherited, or personal private credentials and launch the Connection with Connect As.

2016 P3 ignores the Connect As credentials and uses the configured inherited or personal credentials.
