ASG 2020 x64 Patch6 - An unhandled error occured in the application

Hallo Zusammen,

ich habe gerade die version 6 installiert. Leider ist es nicht mehr moeglich in der Find-Items view das kontext menue (Rechtsklick) aufzurufen. Man bekommt dann folgende Fehlermeldung

Unhandled Exception
An unhandled error occured in the application. You should restart the application to prevent further problems.

Ich habe auch schon mal etwas rumgeschaut , es gab solch ein Problem schon mal, da hatte es etwas mit den Berechtigungen zutun, ist jetzt aber nicht der Fall. Das Problem besteht auch wenn ich asg als admin starte.

Als weitere Info - wenn ich einen rechtsklick in der Navigation mache habe ich das Problem nicht.

Connection could not be established - for some users

Hello

I have a supplier that has access to ASG with his account.

When we test access to ASG from my computer it works correct.
After that we testet from his computer and got the error

"Connection could not be established"

When we tested from his computer with my account i also got this error.

First we thought, that is was caused by his computer, but we tried

Has someone an idea?

Private credentials lost after installing patch 6

I installed patch 6 for Remote Desktop 2020 today and lost all my private credentials. Shared credentials were unaffected. Is there a way to retrieve these? 
I've attached a screenshot, the folder in the tree is empty. Prior to the upgrade there were 5 or 6 entries in there.

Lost Configuration

Hello,

Current version = 13.0.688.1

This has been happening for a Very Long time.  I'm just now frustrated enough to post a thread to see if there's a fix.

I'll add multiple new credentials and/or connections.  Then at some point, twice or so weekly, ASG stops responding and I have to kill the task.  When I reopen ASG, the credentials/connections are missing.

I'm using a SQL environment.  Are these configuration changes not saved immediately when I add them?  There is no Save button, so I would assume auto-saving would be a given.

Unattended auth popup when using quick connect

Hi all,

I am currently facing a strange issue since few days.
This has started to occur after activating the disk mapping in RDP ressource part (clicking on Use full connection properties button of quick connect box with correct Credentials selected)
Disk Resource mapping is working fine but now if I don't click on "Use full connection properties" button before clicking on connect, then I am getting a windows security window opening requesting for credentials.
If I just click on the full connection properties button before connecting (even with changing anything) then it connects with no issue.
Working fine also when not using quick connect and right clicking on the computer name in the left pane and connecting as with the correct credentials. 

It is user related as if I use another user to log in ASG then quick connect is working correctly as before.
It looks like a bug but or an issue inside by ASG user profile but I don't really find a way to get rid of it.

Any idea?
did someone has seen this kind of behavior also ? 

The user I can see in the windows security box (asking for pwd) is the one with which I launch the ASG client.
it is like the quick connect don't use the credential recorded in the DB.
Same thing if I change the credentials selected
but it is using them correctly if I click first on use full properties button.

Hi, 
Is there a way to use saved credentials for another RDP in connection? 
for example, I have server1.domain.com saved as connection with credentials. I will login in to this server and want from this server do RDP to server2.domain.com. Can I use somehow credentials for this RDP? Or I have to use another password manager where I am going to have saved password.

Hope the question make sense.

Feature Request - external Aplications

Hi,

I posted years ago a feature request for enabling "ext. Applications" on the tab.

I've very often ten or more tabs opened. It's annoying to go to the nav-bar and search for the connection and then open the external App like winSCP.
It would be very convenience.

ASG Implementation

Hi All,
I am new here and I hope to get some feedback on the implementation and configation of ASG remote.
I basically installed ASG remote using a service account. This service account has DB owner permisions on the DB. The installation was successful. 
The issues are, I cannot launch ASG remote with any other account, it only works with the service account used for the installation.
I also need some help configuring ASG to include all the servers within an AD forest.

Please put me in the right direction if these questions had been answered in the past.

ASG team,

It seems that with the release of the latest version we have lost the ability to browse forests and domains to import servers from Active Directory. I am running Windows 10, 1809, latest patches as of this month. Can you please investigate and remediate?

New SQL server, slow load time

We're migrating to a new SQL server and I moved our ASG database to it tonight by detaching, copying to new server, and attaching it. I updated my connection manager to the new server. Now time to load the application takes about 2 minutes to load when it previously took seconds.

Any ideas on why this could be so much slower than the old SQL server/database?

Enabling TLSv1.2

Needing assistance enabling TLSv1.2. 

I am on ASG-RD 2020 version 13.0.6667.1.

I have upgraded SQL Server Express 2014 to SP3 CU5, which should support TLSv1.2.

We also have ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server version 12.3.6448.4 installed and .NET is not installed. 

I read on another post that ODBC is no longer used, but .NET is.

When I disable TLSv1.0 via the registry, ASG is no longer able to connect to the database, which resides on the same server. 

This is the only application on this server that is still using TLSv1.0 and we are trying to phase it out of our environment.

Using ASG Client from AADJ device with federated accounts to existing Onprem DB

Hi,
we started to use Azure AD only joined devices with federated AD users in the cloud.
For a SSO user expierience we implemented Kerberos for users --> How SSO to on-premises resources works on Azure AD joined devices | Microsoft Docs
The client software could successfully installed, so no issue here, including the SQL connection, ... passed the connection test :-)
When trying to connect with login type "Windows Account" and "integrated" feature we get an error.

In the second error message I can see that the client software using the current known user SID that is different to the AD onprem SID.
(... could be validated with "whoami /user" ... shows the Domain\account name and the "Azure ObjectID - SID" (S-1-12-1....)
Is there a possible workaround?
Maybe newer versions using the Kerberos Token directly?
Any other idea or suggestion?

ASG RD 2019 Http/s Browser - New Tab not opening with FireFox/GeckoFX

Hi all,

in our Company we have ASG-RemoteDesktop 2019 (12.0.6261. 1) in use.


Unfortunately with Internet Explorer some internal Web UI's are not working well (we've noticed that already before using ASG)
So we use FireFox instead which is working normally fine.

But - With FireFox/GeckoFX in ASG RD nothing is happening when we click on a link in the UI where we normally would expect (like with Internet Explorer) a new tab to be opened.

Is there a solution for this ?

Hi all,

in our Company we have ASG-RemoteDesktop 2019 (12.0.6261. 1) in use.

So far it is a great tool and making life for everyone a lot easier.


When we are using ASG RD to connect to a Web UI, sometimes it is great for us to be able to use the search function.
Normally from every Browser you would be used to use "Ctrl + F" - But in ASG with this shortcut the tab "Find Items" will appear.

Is there any option to change this Shortcut ? Or is there an alternative Shortcut for the search within the website ?

Hi, we want to use asg Remoet desktop in our company. At first startup you need to configure the database connection. We don´ßt want to give the sql username and passwort to our customers - the should use the windows account to login. How can we provide a preconfigured installation where users only need to login using their windows username and password, while the db connection to the backend database is already configured?

Hallo, wir haben hier ein etwas komplexes Rechtekonzept:
Wir haben mehrere Ordner angelegt, in denen jeweils die Server sind:

VERBINDUNGEN
   - PROD
   - QA
   - INT1
   - INT2


Die Berechtigungsgruppe INTERN hat zugriff auf den Ordner Verbindungen, und damit auch auf alle Unterordner.

Wir haben jetzt externe Kollegen, die Zugriff auf alles AUSSER PROD und QA haben sollen. Also habe ich die Gruppe EXTERN ebenfalls auf Verbindungen gesetzt, die Kollegen sehen alle Ordner. Auf die Ordner PROD und QA habe ich die Gruppe EXTERN auch explizit gesetzt, aber OHNE irgendwelche Rechte.

Damit sehen die externen Kollegen jetzt folgendes:
VERBINDUNGEN
   - INT1
   - INT2


Leider aber auch alle anderen User. das heißt, nur noch Admins sehen alle Ordner, sobald ein Ordner negative Rechte hat (also Gruppen bei denen bei Berechtigungen nichts angeklickt wurde), werden auch andere Rechte der User vergessen.


Ist das Problem bekannt? Und wie können wir es lösen?

Advise on license & database modell

Hi,

I have a license for RD 2019 which expired March 3, 2019. Currently I'm using RD locally on a Win 10 PC. Because of increased home office, I need to share this PC with more people now. I would like to use RD with a central database, so I can also use the configured connection from my laptop. I will be the only one connecting to the database (one concurrent user).

I'm perfectly happy with the current feature set which comes with RD 2019, so wenn possible I would like to keep the current (expired) license. When I try to install a new instance on the database with the expired license, it says just that: expired. With RD 2012 which I have used as well in the past, this was still possible (install the database with the expired license).

Is there indeed no way to use my current expired license other than on my Win 10 PC? In case I need to go for a new license, which one should I go for (will fulfill my needs)?

Hi am i missing something?

The new feature copy password from the rightclick menu dont work on public credentials..
only private.

is there a setting or permission? (i cant find any)

on a private credentials it works as it should!

We have to keep baselines and note ports opened and reason. After installing ASG-RD, we noticed port tcp/3387 opened up. Could someone provide a reason this port is needed or a way to shut it down through application settings in ASG-RD? I know it's this application because it showed up on 4 separate servers after installing ASG-RD. Thanks!
