Upgrade ASG-RD 2016 to 2017

Hi!

We are currently using ASG-RD 2016 with a database.
We want to upgrade to 2017.
I've already seen, that a database upgrade is necessary for 2017...
Question now is, whether the db version 2017 is downwards compatible to 2016 or not?

If not, what would be the best approach to migrate?
Side-by-side with a copied database for 2017?
We're having many administrative workstations running ASG-RD, so a one-shot upgrade for all
is more or less impossible....
